Description
Bred in 1974 and released by Washington State University in 1990, Centennial is an aroma type cultivar that has found favor as one of the most popular varieties for craft brewers. It is often referred to as a super-Cascade and can also be used for bittering purposes. Centennial has moderate tolerance to downy mildew and good pickability of a medium size, compact cone. Derived from 3/4 Brewer’s Gold, 3/32 Fuggle, 1/16 East Kent Golding, 1/16 unknown and 1/32 Bavarian.
Known for medium intensity floral and citrus (lemon) tones.
