Become a Certified Beer Tasting Judge

Every year there are hundreds of contests to determine who makes the best beer and certified judges are always needed. The BJCP, Beer Judge Certification Program, has over 7,500 certified judges. If you want to become a judge we can help you to pass the beer judge test with this class.

George DiPiro, Master Judge, is the Albany Pump Station’s first head brewer and also was head brewer at Druthers. You can take an 8 week course with George, which will give you enough information to take the test to be a certified judge.

Classes will be held at Emporium Farm Brewery’s taproom over 8 weeks in October and November. Classes will start the first week in October and be either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 7 PM to 8PM. The class will cover all aspects of brewing and judging beer, water chemistry, malt, hops, yeast, of course, but also evaluation of beer, including off flavors. We will provide numerous samples of beer for evaluations every week. Be ready for homework too, more beer evaluation.

The cost for all 8 classes is $100. We must have 10 at a minimum and can only do up to 15 people. If you are interested email us at heny@beerbrew.com or call us at 518 283-7094.
